We have many, many opportunities for social and service activities. “Regular Activities” occur on a regular, ongoing basis. Although many are monthly, they range from multiple times a week to annually. “Special Activities” are once and done events that typically occur monthly. Examples include a visit to a plantation, a presentation on deer resistant plants, and a tubing float down the James River.
Some members like to be involved in many activities, others want just a few, still others may participate in only one or two. To prevent communication overload, members select the regular activities they are interested in to receive emails from that “Activity Group”.

3rd Friday Games Night
Popular games of strategy and luck played each month.

Mah Jongg
A game of strategy, skill and luck that meets every Wednesday afternoon.

Men’s & Womens’ Duplicate Bridge
Men and women at all levels, with or without a partner. Played once a month.

Men’s Poker Night
Card game of chance that meets the first Friday night of each month.

Ladies’ Hand & Foot Cards
Popular meld-making card game. Meets on the 1st Tuesday evening of every month.
Daytime Hand & Foot Cards
This one is for Guys too. Meets every 3rd Monday afternoon (not in summer or December).
Rummikub
Rummikub is a tile-based game combining elements of the card game rummy and mahjong. Meets monthly on 2nd Thursday afternoons (not in Summer or December).

Ping Pong Billiards Social
Play ping pong or billiards in this mixed social group. No game play necessary. Normally quarterly at the leader’s house in basement with a pot-luck snacks.

Bocce Ball
A blend of bowling & horseshoes with a touch of shuffleboard. Takes place monthly from March – November generally on Sundays. BYO wine, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage along with a dish to share.

Golf For Fun
Co-ed group for clinic and golf. Players of all levels are welcome! Meets twice a month, April through October.

Pickleball Group
A paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong using a paddle and plastic ball with holes. Appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Played Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on the courts near the pool.

Swim Finners
Exercise at the pool during the summer.
This is a mixed group.

Walking Group
Members meet on Monday and Thursday mornings to walk at various locations for lengths decided by the membership.

Wine and Beer Tasting
A social event held quarterly at The Highlands Community Clubhouse at Lake Margaret. Usually on a Sunday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. BYO wine, beer or a non-alcoholic beverage along with a dish to share.

Ladies’ Lunch Bunch
This group of ladies meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month and visit different restaurants during the year.

Men’s Lunch Bunch
This group of gentlemen meet the 1st Wednesday of the month. They visit different restaurants each month.

Ladies’ Chick Flicks
Enjoy watching new movie releases that are chosen by club members.

Men’s Macho Matinee
Real men watch these movies.

Christmas Mother
Volunteers are members of a committee which raises funds and buys gifts and food for needy families in the Chesterfield / Colonial Heights area.

Holiday Decorations
Help install and remove decorations at the Highlands, Lake Margaret, and Cypress Glen entrances.

Highlands’ Massey Classic
Annual fund-raising event dedicated to the research, education and treatment at VCU Massey Cancer Center. Volunteers are needed in every aspect of running this event.
